Indiana Kids’ Election: Speakers’ Bureau Training (1 hr. CLE)
Bruce Blomberg, Social Studies Specialist, DOE
Joan Champagne, White And Champagne LLC

On Nov. 8, students across Indiana will elect their own governor, president and senator in a show of active citizenship through Indiana Kids’ Election (IKE), an award-winning mock election program for grades K-12. Indiana attorneys, paralegals and law students have the opportunity to participate in this program by volunteering for the IKE Speakers’ Bureau, which will take place during the month of October.

In this session, ISBA Public Relations Committee Chair Joan Champagne will explain more about the IKE program, showcasing the IKE website where attorneys can sign up. Also, Bruce Blomberg, the social studies specialist at the Indiana Department of Education, will discuss the Indiana law on school responsibility concerning elections, IC 20-30-5-4. He will also discuss tips on how to present to elementary, middle and high school students.
